"The American Psychological Association Film Committee chose Matt Kailey: A Conversation as one of the main films to showcase at our annual conference. This short film accomplishes more in twenty minutes than a panel of experts could do in hours. It stimulated thinking on a topic that is at the forefront of need-to-know issues for modern workplaces, organizations, and educational institutions. Matt Kailey is incredibly warm, open, and articulate. The combination of the screening and Q&A discussion after the film moved the audience in ways I never saw before at a convention. It was definitely my favorite film of my four years on the film committee."

--Renee V. McCormick, Ph.D., Chair 2005 - APA Ad Hoc Committee on Film

"Moving and contemporary ... with raw sensitivity and a dry wit, Matt talks openly about his transition from a woman to a man, and the complexities of his changing gender role and sexual identity."

--Educational Media Reviews

Matt Kailey: A Conversation is now being distributed by Fanlight Productions in Boston. The film made its national debut on February 14, 2004, at CinemaReno, the 2004 Reno Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. Matt Kailey: A Conversation is directed by award-winning filmmaker D. Robin Hammer, director of many internationally screened films, including One, Intersextion, Thorn Grass, Light Dance, and Shake the Rain.

The film is a candid, non-clinical look at various issues involving gender, sexuality, spirituality, and transsexualism. At 20 minutes in length, it is ideal for promoting thoughtful discussion in the classroom as well as in many other venues, giving viewers a unique and intimate perspective about transsexual issues. For more information, or to purchase or rent the film, visit Fanlight Productions.
